May meeting of the Central Ky Herding Club. Alex had a time out to play with Edda, then back in with Libbye and the sheep. Maybe someday ..... far far away.....

General Butler State Park, KY

 

We met a friend at Gen Butler park to work on Obedience and take a hike in the woods. When the path was blocked by a fallen tree, we took the road back. Boy, did we get some looks! This is a lot of dog(s)! We had a great walk and a wonderful lunch before we headed home. Have to do this again!

April 9, Brooke and I took our three walking through the park. What a day! Sun was great! It was a bit brisk, but that is PERFECT Belgian weather! Here is Paris, Brooke and Tryst with the city of Cincinnati behind them.

Kentuckiana Cluster, Regional Specialty

Reminder: ABTC's Run for the Ribbons Specialty, Sweepstakes and
Supported Shows at the Kentuckiana Cluster hosted by OVBTC closes at
noon next Wednesday, Feb. 28.

Superintendent is Onofrio.

1. This is a four day show March 15 - 18 at the State
Fairgrounds (not on city property).

2. ABTC's Specialty Show will be on Friday, March 16, 2007, with
our own Sharon Redmer as Judge.

3. ABTC's Sweepstakes for Puppies and Veterans will also be on
Friday, March 16, 2007, with our own Joni Freshman DVM, as
Judge.

4. ABTC's Supported Show will be on Saturday, March 17, 2007,
with esteemed all breed Judge Lester Mapes.

5. Wonderful trophies by RiverWolf Galleries, Tapestry by Four
Seasons Belgian Shepherd Club, RugPal North and John Baumann pottery.

6. There are still rooms available at our host hotel, Best
Western Brownsboro, be sure to ask for Ray Smith who is handling all
the reservations (502) 893-2551 and mention you are requesting the
OVBTC block of rooms.

7. There will be FREE reserved grooming space. Make sure when
sending in your request that you mark your form "ABTC Specialty
Reserved Grooming Space". If you want to be next to someone in
particular then mention that person by name. Remember the show site

8. There will be an annual meeting for club members and
interested non-members on Friday night at the hotel. Of course all
Belgian owners of any flavor are more than welcome to also attend.

9. There will be a party at the hotel on Saturday night which
will include a great raffle and plenty of food. Here again all of
our Belgian friends are invited. Please let one of the officers know
if you are planning on attending so we can plan accordingly.

incredible shopping, great agility, obedience, rally and conformation

Tallmadge OH show, Jan 6-7

We met Mary Lynn Wynieski, Alex's breeder in Tallmadge OH. She showed him both Saturday and Sunday. There were 8 class dogs entered each day! What a showing!

Alex was recognized by Judge Olvis on Saturday as 4th in Open Class.

He was recognized by Judge Tom Hale on Sunday as 3rd in Open Class.

He is getting better every day! We do need to do more practice on conformation showing.


We roomed with Tracy Karceski and Pizzaro - WD on Saturday - and Brooke Cole and Tryst - BOB on Saturday and BOS on Sunday. We had lots of great dogs and good luck!

A warm Thanksgiving!

 

It was a wonderfully warm Thanksgiving weekend this year! I worked much of it, but Alex and I spent as much time outside as that schedule allowed. Here he is, watching me from the side yard while I did some cleaning of the flower beds in the front yard. It was in the mid-60's all each day.

Ian Dunbar Seminar, Orlando Nov 2006

 

I just got back from a four day Ian Dunbar pet dog training seminar in Orlando. I went with two freinds, one a trainer and the other a kennel owner. We had great fun and learned a lot!
Alex's will have so much fun with this stuff!! 

Trip to and from Memphis also meant SHEEP!

 
 
 
 

As long as we were driving through Elizabethtown, we stopped at Libbye's to practice Alex with the sheep. Libbye worked him on the way down (barking is getting progressively less - good news!) and on the way back, we planned to just wander calmly among the sheep.

Bonus for Alex: We found Kristina, Holly and Edda (BSD) there and he got to really put his flirting genes into practice! What a run Edda gave him! It was three -four times around the car area and he was in her DUST! She finally let him catch up to her. Such fun to watch!

Our trip to Memphis is about friends and unofficial family with a dog show thrown in. That is good, since there were no points to be had this year. Saturday, Alex insisted on flirting with the only bitch in the ring and completely forgot why we were there. Guess he had his own agenda! ;-)
We always enjoy visiting with our old neighbors and they are wonderful to Alex and I. Another friend, Venice, went with us this year. The long drive was much more fun and we had a great time! 

Tall Stacks Music Festival

After a good morning run in the park, Alex took a nap and we went down to the Ohio River to celebrate the Tall Stacks Festival. Beautiful day - only problem is the river was high and running so fast that none of the boats went out this morning. We had our luncheon cruise at the dock - but the lunch was GRAND!
The night before, we took a Mardi Gras dinner cruise on the Natchez. Great food and we ran into some good friends. What more can one ask?

Alex was still quite riled by the sheep, but he passed his Herding Instint Certificate Saturday.

By the time he worked with the sheep twice Saturday and then Sunday, he was getting much more calm.

Alex and I went to Lebabon Indiana this weekend. He took Best of Breed under Judge Paul Thomann and finished his Rally Novice title under Judge Randy Wojcik. What a weekend!!!

To be real honest, there were only two Tervs entered on Sunday, but that did not cut down on our excitement to win and enter the group ring - WOW!
