Tonight was our 5th puppy class. We did ok, considering we missed last week. I only broke the long down a little for distractions. I doubt anyone noticed! Really! I will practice more this week.

Another first! I jumped up on the bed last night without any help from Pat! Boy, was she surprised!! My legs and body are longer (see?), my coat is changing, I find out every day that I can do something new. Pat is hoping I won't try the rock wall until my legs feel better and we know what was wrong... I keep eyeing it though. ;-)
Guess Pat shouldn't worry yet. She tried to get me to jump on the bed Monday night - did I really do that before??? Guess I forgot how!

I am feeling much better today. Taking lots of naps, but feelling pretty good. Even took some time to play with Kit. He really missed us while we were gone! I weigh almost 36 pounds now. Maybe the Doctor is right and I am just growing faster than my bones.

First hospital stay, hopefully the last!

We had a scare with Alex last night and he spent the night at the vet hospital. We aren't yet sure what caused his weakness and fever, but are really glad to have him at home. Many thanks to The Care Center in Blue Ash and Linda Thomas  for their help.

Alex is napping now. I think we will all go to bed early tonight!

Vacation

Now this is a dog's vacation! 20 acres in Northern Michigan with a mowed path to run in whenever we can talk the folks into a walk! There were even deer to chase out of the bushes! WOW!!

Wednesday, we drove back to Cincinnati. Pat got some hostas and plants from her Aunt. They made a great bed for the ride! It took 9 hours to get home, 437 miles and we stopped a lot. I will have more pictures soon! A.

First vacation!

Saturday, had my first long trip since I came to Cincinnati. We drove to Michigan and I met lots of family - including "Sir Guy", a Great Dane. His family calls him Guyber? He was really tall, but was good enough to get down to my level. He was supposed to stay DOWN during dinner, but I kept getting him in trouble. Sorry, Guy!

Our second puppy class was last night. I can do a 60 second sit, almost a minute down. HAVE to work on coming from the play group though. "Coming" from playing with Kit or Gregor is OK, but these new dogs are just so .... NEW! Have to work on that! We are supposed to be at 3 minutes by next week. Guess I will be practicing a lot!

We had a play date last night. "The boys" came to visit for a couple hours and we romped and ran all over the hill. I wish I could show you video on this, you would laugh for days!

I want a real pool!

Ahh, summer fun in the pool. This place puts MY little pool to shame! I had a great time today. Hope we get to go back soon! If you have to practice a down/stay, this is THE way to do it! A.

Puppy Class

We had our first puppy class tonight - with pups included. It was a bit tricky in timing, since I work 10 minutes from class and live 30 minutes from work. The decision was made to board Alex during the day close to work, then pick him up early for our 6:30 class at Queen City Dog Training Club.He got to do two firsts in one day - kennel boarding AND a puppy class!
We had a great time. Class practiced for half hour, then took a potty break and then had puppy play time. Whooaaa! What a frolic! Alex made many new friends and we have much to look forward to. BTW, he weighed 33.6 lbs when we checked in today at the vet/boarding clinic.

Alex's Independence Weekend - finally able to drink from the fountain without behing held up!

July 3, a full run!

July 3, another milestone ~ Alex can now drink out of the raised feeder. This means I can take the water bowl off the floor and we will have a much dryer floor. It also means that he can do the same at the toilet. Yes, I saw him do this Thursday morning. Back to shutting the lid again! ;-) He also managed to drink from the fountain at the park today! Taller and taller!
